Unit Funds

  Type Description Amount
1 Local Units established at Fort Johnson $1.50 per soldier, per year
2 Isolated Full-time support personnel more than 50 miles from a military installation

$2.50 per soldier, per month

3 Annual Training Full-time support personnel assigned to Fort Johnson for at least 30 days

$2.50 per soldier

4 Deployment Active-duty units, mobilized Guard, and Reserve units in deployment areas

$2.00 per soldier, per month

Local Unit Funds

Local unit funds are direct monetary NAF support from the MWR operating entity. Units may receive these funds based on unit strength. They are budget accounts only and cannot be carried forward to the next fiscal year. Local unit funds may only be used for the benefit of all soldiers in the unit (IAW AR215-1).

Funds may only be used at MWR facilities, AAFES, or the Commissary. See below:

1. Establish unit

2. Request funds

3. Receive funds and return receipts to DFMWR

Receipts should be returned within 48 business hours of the event

  • Building 350 on the 4th floor

Requests for local unit funds must be made at least 2 (two) weeks in advance.

Fund requests under $500 may be issued in cash.

Isolated Unit Funds / Annual Training Funds

Isolated active Army units (to include RC units activated for 30 or more days) and full-time support (FTS) RC personnel physically located more than 50 miles from the nearest military installation whose Soldiers require the use of garrison MWR facilities. Funds may only be utilized for the benefit of all soldiers in the unit (IAW AR 215-1).

Deployment Funds

Deployed active-duty units, mobilized Guard, and Reserve units are authorized unit funds through the Army Level Requirement (ALR) FMWR unit fund program. Funds may only utilized for the benefit of all soldiers in the unit (IAW AR 215-1).

Climb to Remember

All patrons who have access to the facility that want to honor those who did the most during 9/11 are encouraged to come to any of the gyms in ruck gear, fire fighter gear, or just regular gym attire and utilize the stairstepper, jacobs ladder, treadmill on full incline, or the indoor track and give max effort to climb as far as they can to represent those who did this for the twin towers which were 110 stories high.
