Summer Reading Program 2023

This year's Summer Reading Program theme is "Find Your Voice!"
 
The Allen Memorial Library is gearing up for this year’s Summer Reading Program (SRP), taking place June 10 to July 22.
A Kick Off Party for the program will take place at the Allen Memorial Library on Thursday, June 8. Miss Louisiana 2022, Gracie Reichman, will be in attendance.
 
Patrons can register at SRP in person or online at https://allenmemorial.beanstack.org beginning Friday, June 9.
Eligible customers of all ages are welcome and encouraged to participate in this free 6-week event!

Miss Louisiana 2022 Biography

Miss Louisiana 2022, Gracie Reichman 

Gracie Reichman, Miss Louisiana 2022, from Colfax, Louisiana is a senior Kinesiology & Health Sciences Major at Louisiana Tech University. She plans to obtain a Doctorate in Physical Therapy with Advanced Certification in Sports Physical Therapy.  

Gracie was Miss Louisiana’s Outstanding Teen 2018 and is currently a goodwill ambassador for the Louisiana Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, as well as a representative for the Miss Louisiana Organization’s Corporate sponsors: City of Monroe, Discover Monroe/West Monroe, University of Louisiana Monroe, Propane Dealers of Louisiana, Vantage Health Plan, Louisiana Office of Tourism and TownePlace Suites by Marriott of Monroe.  

Gracie is a 2018 graduate of Holy Savior Menard Central High School in Alexandria and is now an active member of the Louisiana Tech University Community as a former member of the Regal Blues Dance Team, as well as Phi Mu Fraternity and the Louisiana Tech Leadership Council.  

Gracie recently competed for the title of Miss America 2022 where she captured the Non-Finalist Talent award with her exhilarating Contemporary Clogging routine to Blue Suede Shoes.  

Since Gracie began competing in the Miss America Organization, she has earned over $82,000 in scholarships. She travels the state promoting her social impact initiative, “Think Twice, Be Nice” encouraging positive mindsets and self-worth. 

Summer Reading Program Guidelines & Schedule

Sign up online at https://allenmemorial.beanstack.org or in person starting 09 June to receive a registration prize while supplies last. 

Start tracking minutes in your reading log, in the Beanstack app, or online at https://allenmemorial.beanstack.org beginning 10 June. 

All ages read 300 minutes, about five hours, per week. Each reading week starts on Saturday and ends on Friday. Prize pick up begins the following Saturday. Reading and prize weeks are listed in the Reading Incentives Chart. 

Books must be at or above your reading level. You may also listen to audio books, read graphic novels or mangas, or a relative can read to you.  

Log 300 minutes before coming to the library to claim your prize.  

Only one prize will be awarded per person, per week while supplies last. 

You may claim prizes from previous weeks, but you can not claim prizes before their designated week.  

The last day to collect prizes is 05 August.  

Participants who log at least 1500 minutes during the six week program will be awarded a Certificate of Completion and be entered into a raffle for additional prizes.
